Turmeric is the Asians favorite spice. No Curry would be complete without the color and aroma intensive powder. The old knowledge of Ayurveda teaches how turmeric supports our digestive tract and detoxifies our body and soul.
The healing properties of Turmeric are found in the yellow colored curcumin and its oils. Turmeric is also used as an antiseptic and to fight of certain fungi.
In Ayurvedic practices, turmeric is thought to have many medicinal uses and many in South Asia use it as a readily available antiseptic for cuts and burns. It is also used as an antibacterial agent.
In some Asian countries it is taken as a dietary supplement, which might helps with digestive problems and other ailments. Pakistanis also use it as an anti-inflammatory agent, and remedy for gastrointestinal discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome, and other digestive disorders. It is currently being tested for possible benefits in Alzheimer’s, cancer and liver disorders.
